This summer's Big Red Limited Release from Winexpert -- Bourbon Barrel Zin-Cab!
Region and Blend: Zinfandel & Cabernet Sauvignon from Dry Creek Valley in California 
Description: A robust blend of Zinfandel and Cabernet enhanced by the addition of oak chips from authentic Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. Inviting toasty notes on the nose lead to flavors of jammy blackberry, cherry and plum. Bourbon nuances of toasted vanilla, spice and a hint of caramel provide for a long, smooth finish.
It's all about the oak -- and when you add it!
In order to obtain optimal bourbon character in the finished wine, the Eclipse Bourbon Barrel limited release follows a unique oaking process which deviates slightly from standard instructions. The kit includes three packets of oak chips: 
• 2 packets of Bourbon Oak chips 
• 1 packet of Med-Heavy oak chips 
Step 1.6 PRIMARY FERMENTATION: • Add 1 packet of Bourbon Oak chips & the Med-Heavy oak packet. 
Step 3.3 CLEARING: • Add the 2nd packet of Bourbon Oak chips. Normally only oak cubes are added during Step 3. 
As such, all packets of the Bourbon Oak chips will be labelled with the following notice: Please save one packet of Bourbon Oak Chips 60g to add at Step 3.3 (Day 15 – Clearing) in your instructions. Adding the Bourbon Oak chips to the wine during Primary Fermentation and then again during Clearing enhances the wine, giving it more pronounced bourbon character.

New Item: Rice Hulls for Pressing Wine

Rice hulls/husks aid in pressing grapes and other fruits by improving internal drainage for more effective pressing. Sprinkle over crushed grapes as you fill the press. They can also be added to increase mass in a press that is underloaded. 1 pound is sufficient to aid in pressing 50-150 pounds of grapes, or 50 pounds are sufficient to aid in pressing 2 to 6 tons of grapes.
Grab some Rice Hulls when you rent our bladder or basket press to increase yield and make sure the basket is sufficiently full.

Fresh Grape Delivery by West Coast Grapes
We are here to help you get some fresh grapes for your home winemaking this harvest season!  We will once again be a pick-up point for fresh grapes from West Coast Grapespricing and availability will soon be online for 2018.

Grapes are purchased directly  through West Coast Grapes, we are a pick-up point only, no sales on site for these grapes! Please note, we cannot store these grapes, they will start spontaneously fermenting if you do not pick them up the day they arrive. 


The delivery date at Curds and Wine will be set soon, check our Facebook page and Harvest 2018 page for updates.


Grapes are unloaded from the refrigerated trucks and stacked next to the order slips at the back of 7188 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, in the same building as Curds and Wine.  We cannot give a specific time as orders will be pulled from the truck as they were loaded, but the truck should have most orders unloaded by 11 am - please plan to spend a few hours as it takes time to unload the grapes from the truck.  Be sure to pick up your grapes before 4 pm that day, especially if you need them crushed and destemmed on site.  Your patience and cooperation in getting all the orders out before grapes are taken is appreciated!


We will have a crusher/destemmer available to process these grapes for a $25 processing fee for up to 500 lbsanother $10 fee for every additional 500 lbs; crush tickets must be prepurchased at Curds and Wine or online before you take your grapes to get crushed.  We will have a crush list on delivery day, please check in with a Curds and Wine representative at the crushers to get on the list.  Please remember to bring containers that will fit in your vehicle to transport the must back home as the grapes arrive in open wooden or plastic boxes.
